Solar Power Generation

  • Solar Power generation system can be classified to two different types, the one is Stand-Alone system, and the other is Grid-Connected system as to the application environment of wide area electricity supply network
  • Stand-Alone type system is applicable to the island and/or mountains area where is no access to the national/commercial electric power grid. The Grid-connected type system is usual solar power generation that is connected to the national power network so as to feed the left-over electric energy from local storage back to the national grid. But the system is able to get electric power from national grid to local area when there is less availability to produce electric power at night or bad weather condition
  • For any system type, electric power storage (e.g. battery bank) charged by solar energy will put its power out to the local area load via electric power converter (i.e. Inverter) when power production is less than consumption.

Solar power generation system is comprised of solar panel to change solar ray energy to electric potential energy, Power Control Subsystem to convert electric energy from solar panel to storage and/or electricity load, energy storage and inverter to change DC to AC. In addition, Electric islanding protection device is necessary to match AC frequency, phase and peak value.

Charging Station Management System

  • It is a system for automation and integrated management of electric vehicle charging stations. This system is installed and operated in the JEJU Smart Grid Demonstration Complex. The multi-function charger is integrate-managed and integrate-controlled(Idle speed, Quick, Non-Contacting, Energy Storage System, New renewable power generator).
  • Actively controls charging load according to power grid load condition.
  • Real-time billing and settlement of charging power loads according to variable electricity rates.
  • Depending on local power load trends, power is returned to the grid from power storage or in-vehicle storage.
  • New renewable power Generator is linked to power grid(grid connected distributed generation).
